My Bird Nest Adventure

In the nearly 16 years I’ve lived in my house, birds have been building their nests under the deck in the back of the house.  This is the first time a bird, an American robin, has built its nest on the tree in the front yard.  All pictures taken with Nikon D4S w/ Nikkor AF-S 200mm-400mm f/4G and Nikkor TC-14E II 1.4x teleconverter.

My Unconquered Adventure

Today I got to visit the place that was featured in the 1947 Cecil B. De Mille’s Unconquered movie, starring Gary Cooper and Paulette Goddard.  I didn’t realize it till I read about the history of Pittsburgh that referenced Colonel Henry Bouquet, who was a major character in the movie.

My Light Adventure

Just completed the Fundamentals of Photography course taught by Joel Sartore.  Photography fundamentals include:

  • Light.  Good light at sunrise and sunset.  Fill light.
  • Composition.  Rule of thirds.  Leading lines.  Layers.  Background.  Eye-level vs. high vs. low.
  • Interesting.  Is it interesting?

Do the following pictures that I took in the last six months have the above properties?
